Teresa Deck
Clinical Director, MS, LPC, CCTP

Teresa Deck received her B.S from Baylor University and her M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Central Oklahoma.  Since 2002 she has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Oklahoma. She is an approved LPC Supervisor as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. In addition to her therapeutic knowledge and years of clinical experience, she is also an EMDR and PIT (Post Induction Therapy) trained therapist.

During her remarkable 23-year career in the behavioral health field, she has been an advocate for individuals who have experienced life with mental health challenges, addiction issues, childhood relational trauma, and dysfunctional relationship patterns. Joining the team at the Green Shoe Foundation in 2016 was, and still is, a perfect fit for Teresa to facilitate hope, healing, and empowerment for a healthy future.

One thing Teresa will tell you is, “An individual’s value is innate; everyone is born inherently worthy, and your worth will never change.”  It is not about what is wrong with you, but more importantly, it is about what happened to you during the first 18 years of your life. Partnering with individuals to help them embrace their true identity as a precious person underlines why she is the heart and soul of Green Shoe.

Teresa's aspiration as a therapist is to foster healing from childhood relational trauma and to encourage and educate individuals about how to experience life as a healthy functional adult. Learning to actually live with awareness of your inherent value and worth can be challenging when we didn’t feel valued during childhood. We are all “Precious People” on a journey towards finding a connection with ourselves and with others. Living with joy!

Teresa’s faith and family are her foundations, especially when it is time to put on her Gigi hat. When she is not advocating for mental health awareness, you can find her enjoying relationships with family and friends, reading, enjoying the outdoors, gardening, or baking.  She especially loves making birthday cakes because she has a passion for celebrating the gift of life with others. She knows each person’s life is a gift and deserves to be celebrated.

“Watching individuals transform their thoughts and feelings of self-loathing into healthy thoughts and feelings of compassion and self-esteem is awe inspiring.  When I observe them recognize their inherit value and worth, sometimes for the first time ever, it is truly humbling and joyful.

I love the dedicated staff and fellow coworkers who enjoy the same thing I just wrote about. I love to notice and observe their own joy when they see individuals learning to love themselves in a way the individuals never thought possible. Both are equally precious to me and create gratitude and passion for the work we are so fortunate to be a part of at the Green Shoe Foundation.”
