Based on Pia Mellody's work in codependency, boundaries, and the effects of childhood relational trauma on emotional development; our five-day outpatient retreat utilizes Post Induction Therapy (PIT), an eclectic therapeutic approach that delivers transformational change. At Green Shoe, we truly believe that seeking help when feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or lost in life is a sign of inner strength.

  • Green Shoe Foundation is a mental health non-profit organization, that offers a 5-day group therapy retreat for adults 21 and older with a focus on healing from childhood trauma. 

  • We are located at 9601 South Portland Avenue, Guthrie, Oklahoma 73044

  • Retreats are Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, and held every week of the year with the exception of federal holiday weeks.

    We do not hold retreats during the weeks of  Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s.

  • The first step is to complete a registration form through our Register page. You will then be guided through establishing a client portal. Once portal paperwork is submitted, you will be contacted to schedule a phone assessment.

  • Due to the overwhelming response to our retreats, we do not offer immediate availability for a retreat.

    Retreats are scheduled based on seasonal availability.

    Registering does not confirm retreat admission. 

  • A Green Shoe retreat requires a $475 deposit to secure your spot and is returned in full upon completing the entire retreat week. If you cannot supply a deposit, we ask that you please contact us to discuss financial assistance.

  • You will be responsible for travel, transportation, and lodging. For those visiting out of town, we advise you to book your accommodations in advance.

  • Family and spouses cannot attend during the same retreat week.

    Friends cannot participate in the same group but might be scheduled for the same week.

    This policy is in place as this may prevent you from fully focusing on yourself and your healing. 

  • We recommend "Facing Codependence" by Pia Mellody. This is a good overview of the model we use at Green Shoe. Additional book recommendations can be found on our online Library page.

  • Suggestions for aftercare plans are unique to each individual, based upon their current situation and upon the needs of the individual at the end of the retreat. The specific suggestions will be discussed with the group facilitator and individuals before leaving on Friday.

  • Our retreat is not faith-based however, Pia Mellody's model is based on connecting to your higher power. We accept all spiritual practices. 

  • On Monday, we will provide a catered lunch.

    Lunches are available to purchase from a local deli, Tuesday - Friday.
    You are also welcome to bring your own lunch and snacks.

    Free snacks and beverages are provided throughout your retreat week.
